A Spectacular Open Evening unfolded at Rainhill High School, showcasing our vibrant community, exciting events, countless opportunities, and outstanding student achievements!
On 25th September, Rainhill High School welcomed over 1,200 parents and prospective students for our highly anticipated Open Evening, and what an evening it was! The event started at 5:30pm with a warm and inspiring welcome speech from Principal Josie Thorogood in the Sports Hall, setting the tone for the rest of the night. Principal Thorogood spoke passionately about our mission, "In Pursuit of Excellence," which was evident throughout the evening.
Following the welcome, visitors had the opportunity to explore the entire school, and it was buzzing with excitement! Parents and students were guided through our various departments, where they experienced firsthand what makes Rainhill High so unique.
In Science, we saw amazing demonstrations of experiments that left everyone in awe. The Art department was alive with creativity as students worked on projects, displaying their talent and enthusiasm. Over in PE, parents were impressed by the focus on physical fitness and teamwork. The Performing Arts stole the show with vibrant dance performances and opportunities to try musical instruments, while Technology gave visitors the chance to explore cutting-edge innovations like Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality devices.
Our Food Technology students showcased their culinary skills, offering delicious samples that truly reflected the quality of the programme. In the English, Geography, Maths, History, Modern Foreign Languages, and RE departments, there were interactive sessions that highlighted our commitment to high academic standards and engaged learning.
Meanwhile, the Design Technology, Computing, and Media departments offered hands-on experiences, allowing visitors to test their skills and creativity. Over in Textiles and Construction, students showcased their craftsmanship and practical knowledge, highlighting the diverse range of subjects available at Rainhill.
The spotlight also shone on our Social Sciences, which includes Business, Economics, Criminology, Health & Social Care, Psychology, Sociology, and Law. These departments emphasised the importance of understanding society and preparing students for the real world.
The feedback from parents was nothing short of glowing, with many expressing how impressed they were by the school’s warm and welcoming environment, the positive attitude of the students, and the dedication of the staff. It was clear to all that our school’s values of 'Learn, Think, Contribute, Care' are at the heart of everything we do.
Our Open Evening truly showcased the best of Rainhill High, and it was an incredible success. We are thrilled to have had so many visitors, and we are confident that they left with a true sense of what makes our school special. The evening was not just about showing what we do, but how we do it — always striving for excellence and fostering a community where everyone is encouraged to thrive.
