Open Evenings Prove A Big Hit As Prospective Pupils and Parents Are Shown Around Rainhill High’s New and Improved Facilities!
At our recent Open Evenings, over 1000 parents and pupils got their first glimpse of the new facilities at Rainhill High School and Rainhill Sixth, introduced as part of a recent £1m makeover and on the back of another bumper set of results at both GCSE and A-level in 2022.
Opening in September, The Hub is a bespoke SEND centre which provides support and interventions to all pupils with additional needs and disabilities. Facilities include two large multi-use areas, a sensory room, intervention rooms and small classrooms to ensure the needs of all students are met so that they can access the full curriculum.
Further extensive investment has been made in the building of a state-of-the-art library which opened in 2021; this investment highlights the importance placed by the school on reading. The library has a classroom area alongside quiet spaces for independent study and group work – with a suite of brand-new computers on hand to complement the facilities offered. Student guides shared their enthusiasm for the library with visiting parents, who were left in no doubt about what a fantastic resource the library is.
Investment in 2022 has also included a complete refurbishment of the Maths Faculty; classrooms and corridors are bright and attractive with new lighting, furniture, flooring and decoration.
The student guides commented that they were proud to show parents around their school, commenting, ‘It was great being able to show parents and Year 6 pupils around and tell them about how much we enjoy being at Rainhill High School. Everybody enjoyed the visit!’
Part of the Stephenson Multi Academy Trust, Rainhill High School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive with 1862 students, including more than 330 in the Sixth Form. The school prides itself on having high aspirations for every single student, delivering the best education and the best opportunities for all - underpinned by its core values of ‘Learn, Think, Contribute, Care’.
Headteacher Josie Thorogood said, “We want every pupil to thrive. It was great to hear the positive feedback from parents on the improved facilities which will only complement our ‘pursuit of excellence’ mantra and unwavering commitment to provide not just continued academic success but rich and varied opportunities for students’ moral, social, spiritual, and cultural development within and beyond the formal curriculum.”
