School Closure Information

As you may already be aware, The Prime Minister has announced this evening that education providers, including schools, will close until further notice after this Friday, 20th March 2020; schools will be open as normal Thursday 19th and Friday 20th March.

‘Further notice’ has not yet been defined but the Prime Minister has said that any disruption will be kept to an absolute minimum and will be informed by scientific advice.

Despite schools closing after Friday, the Prime Minister has confirmed that they will continue play an important part in supporting families of key groups such as vulnerable young people and those whose parents work in key front line services such as the NHS, emergency services and transport services; what this is and how it is done will become clear over the next couple of days.

We, like you, are keen to know and understand the detail behind this announcement and are therefore keenly awaiting the written detail that will follow the announcement, which is due to be issued today, we will also be asking you to fill in a brief on line questionnaire so that we can plan and cater for any of the groups mentioned above who may need to be in school.

We will write to you again as soon as we are in possession of the full facts, but in the meantime, please rest assured that we are committed to supporting our young people, staff and wider Rainhill community and will therefore make every effort to put a plan in place that comprehensively does this.

We would respectfully ask that you do not try and contact the school tomorrow for further details as staff will be busy making preparations in response to the Government’s announcement. We will contact you via Edulink and put details of the update on our website as soon as plans have been confirmed.

Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter, we will contact you again tomorrow.

Best wishes
