On Tuesday 15th July, Rainhill High hosted our annual Star of Rainhill Awards for Year 5 students from our six feeder primary schools. We had over 160 guests attending for what was an outstanding evening. The awards recognised all the wonderful things that Year 5 students are displaying not just within their studies, but in their personal development too.
The award categories are aligned with our school’s core values of Learn, Think, Contribute and Care, recognising excellence in nine categories:
• Learn: Inspirational Learner Award and Perseverance in Learning Award
• Think: Inclusivity and Equality Award and Community Champion Award
• Contribute: The Little Leadership Award and The Terrific Teamwork Award
• Care: The Kindness Counts Award and The Above and Beyond Award
• Star of Rainhill Award: For a student who has made an outstanding contribution to school life.
Year 5 teachers nominated students in their class who they felt encompassed the award categories; the citations that were provided were a testament to the amazing students in our primary community. Each nominee was congratulated with a certificate, with the overall winner receiving a trophy in recognition of their wonderful attributes and efforts.
The evening was met with many faces of awe, inspiration and pride, from peers as well as parents and staff from both the primary schools and Rainhill High. It was heartwarming to hear the citations being read out without the nominees knowing who the winner was, as well as seeing the pride within the audience on the winner’s nomination was for.
Thank you to the students, families and staff who attended the event and made it a truly spectacular evening. We are looking forward to welcoming Year 5 students back for some further events next academic year, as well new Year 5 students for the Star of Rainhill Awards Evening next year too. We also look forward to welcoming all primary students to our Open Evening on Wednesday 24th September 2025 for more experiences.
