Year 9 Fundraisers
Our Year 9 Student Council, led by Arabella Reed, worked really hard prior to our last half term, baking cakes to sell in our Bake Sale and organising a raffle to raise funds to support Young Carers in our local community.
YEAR 9 YOUNG CARERS FUNDRAISING EVENT
Arabella raised a vast amount of the funds by kindly donating an Easter Hamper and selling raffle tickets both in and outside of school. Arabella even managed to get a £50 donation from her dad’s bank!
Arabella had amazing support from Faye Coulthard and Charlotte Strong, with Lorraine Pennington, Head of the Young Carers Trust in St Helens, and the following students:
Emma Bradley, Laura Atkinson, Ruby Wright, Rebecca Cartwright, Megan Pearl, Thomas Chamberlain, Olivia Carroll, Daniel Johnson, Andrea Beesley, Kayla McCabe and Lucy Strettle. Together, they have managed to raise a massive £536 for the Young Carers Trust.
The Young Carers Team have contacted school to thank the students for their empathy and eagerness to support the children on their role and this what they had to say:
“Your support and kindness is very much appreciated, the amount raised by the pupil is fantastic! The donation will go towards taking a group of Young Carers on a
residential trip later on this year, giving them the opportunity to have a break from their caring role, time for the to be themselves, relax and have fun.”
Similarly, the Young Carers Team would like to invite students from any year group to continue to support them in raising awareness and funds during Young Carers Week which commences W/C: 10th June 2019 by visiting the Young Carers Centre to meet the Young Carers on their Chattin 4 Action Group during this week.
