Rainhill Pupil Celebrates European Karate Bronze

Rainhill High School is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Year 8 pupil Oliver Stuart, who has once again demonstrated his exceptional talent and dedication on the international sporting stage.

Oliver, aged 12, recently represented England at the prestigious 16th WUKF European Karate Championships in Sheffield, where he secured an impressive bronze medal in his kumite (fighting) category.

Competing against 25 talented fighters from across Europe, Oliver delivered a series of outstanding performances, demonstrating remarkable skill, determination and composure. His efforts saw him finish as the highest-placed English competitor in his category, a fantastic achievement against some of Europe’s most promising young karate athletes.

Oliver trains at Jinsei Dojo in Rainhill, where his commitment, discipline and passion for karate have helped him develop into an accomplished young competitor.

His latest success adds to an already impressive list of sporting achievements. In 2025, Oliver represented England at the WUKF World Championships in Malmö, Sweden, where he secured a silver medal, further establishing himself as an exciting young talent on the international karate circuit.

Oliver’s dedication and sporting accomplishments have also been recognised closer to home. At the 2025 Pride of St Helens Awards, he was named runner-up in the Young Sportsperson of the Year category, recognising his exceptional achievements and commitment to his sport.

Balancing the demands of school life with regular training and international competition requires tremendous dedication, resilience and determination. Oliver continues to demonstrate these qualities, making him an excellent role model for fellow pupils.

Everyone at Rainhill High School is incredibly proud of Oliver and his continued success. His achievements are a testament to his hard work, commitment and sporting talent, and we look forward to following his progress as he continues to represent England on the international stage.

Congratulations, Oliver, on another fantastic achievement!
