WELLBEING SUPPORT
Wellbeing at the Heart of School Life
At Rainhill, we believe that a young person's wellbeing is not a side-note — it is the foundation for everything.
When pupils feel safe, supported and understood, they are better able to thrive academically and develop as confident, kind and capable young people.
That is why wellbeing sits at the heart of our school culture, guiding how we care for each pupil as a whole person — not simply as a set of grades.
Wellbeing creates the conditions in which pupils can learn, belong and flourish.
Support as Part of Everyday Life
Secondary school can be a time of significant personal growth, but also pressure. Exams, friendships, identity, family life and future choices can all affect how a young person feels.
That is why we have built a school environment where support is visible, accessible and part of everyday life.
Pastoral Support
Trusted adults who know pupils well and can provide guidance, reassurance and practical help.
Space to Talk
Opportunities for pupils to speak openly, ask for help and be listened to without judgement.
Wellbeing Through the Curriculum
Learning that helps pupils understand emotional and physical health, relationships, resilience and how to seek support.
Belonging & Participation
Clubs, enrichment and wider opportunities that help pupils build confidence, relationships and a sense of connection.
Support That Grows With the Pupil
Our commitment to wellbeing goes beyond a quick conversation when something goes wrong.
Support is woven through our daily routines, pastoral care and wider curriculum, helping pupils develop the skills they need to look after their emotional and physical health both now and into adulthood.
Support Can Change as a Pupil's Needs Change
Support can be light-touch and informal, or become more targeted and specialist when a pupil needs more help.
For some pupils, this may mean a simple moment to reset, a drop-in conversation or joining an activity that builds confidence and belonging.
For others, additional pastoral, wellbeing or specialist support may be appropriate. Where this is needed, we work with pupils and families to connect them with the right support and, where appropriate, other professionals.
Promoting Positive Wellbeing
Wellbeing is not only about responding when something is wrong. We also help pupils develop positive habits, relationships and experiences that support wellbeing throughout everyday life.
Pastoral Support
A dedicated pastoral structure providing guidance, care and trusted adults pupils can turn to.
Wellbeing Drop-ins
Opportunities for pupils to talk to staff about concerns or ask for support.
Clubs & Activities
Opportunities to develop interests, friendships, confidence and a sense of belonging.
Physical Wellbeing
Encouraging healthy eating, exercise, self-care and positive everyday routines.
Workshops & Awareness
Learning about topics including mindfulness, managing stress and mental resilience.
Developing Healthy Wellbeing Habits
As pupils become more independent, we encourage them to develop habits that can support both their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Every Pupil Should Know Where to Turn When They Need Help.
Our aim is for young people to feel supported, develop confidence in managing their wellbeing and know that asking for help is a positive and responsible thing to do.
