ENGLISH SCHOOLS’ ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

This weekend, two Rainhill students have the honour of competing for Merseyside in the English Schools’ Athletics Championships.

The Merseyside squad is made up of 40 athletes and to have two boys in the squad is a massive achievement for themselves, their families and our school.

Charlie Roberts (11G) is competing in the 800m and after recently running another personal best of 1:54.13, Charlie is going in to the championships in great form.

As is Luka Sidebotham (9A). Luka is coming off the back of double town titles at St Helens Town Sports on Tuesday in the 100m and the 400m. Luka is also in great form and in the process of winning his two town titles, broke the St Helens Town record in the 100m, which has stood since 2007, clocking a time of 11.26s.

Everyone at the school wishes the boys the very best of luck. We hope we are reporting on some national medals making their way back to Rainhill in the coming week.

All the best lads!
