FUELLING FUTURE SUCCESS

This week, our Sixth Form students enjoyed an inspiring and practical cooking workshop led by Royal Marines Chef Mike. The session offered a valuable blend of culinary skill-building, wellbeing guidance, and real-world insight—equipping students with confidence and essential life skills as they prepare for their next steps beyond Rainhill.

Our Sixth Form students were treated to a unique and inspiring experience this week as Royal Marines Chef Mike visited Rainhill to deliver a hands-on cooking workshop. Drawing on his expertise from years of service, Chef Mike guided students through the preparation of a healthy chicken wrap, demonstrating essential skills such as safe food handling, seasoning, and cooking techniques.

Beyond learning a practical recipe, students explored the importance of brain fuel—how nutritious meals can support focus, memory, and overall wellbeing, especially as they head into the busy exam season. Chef Mike also shared insights into his career in the Royal Marines, highlighting discipline, teamwork, and resilience as valuable life skills that transfer far beyond the kitchen.

The session reinforced the importance of having basic cooking and self-care skills before leaving Sixth Form to embark on university, apprenticeships, or employment. Our students left feeling more confident, capable, and motivated to look after themselves as they take their next steps.

A huge thank you to Chef Mike for an engaging and memorable workshop.
