Our Year 7 and 8 athletics teams delivered an outstanding performance at the Merseyside Indoor Finals, showing determination, teamwork, and pride throughout the competition. Their hard work paid off with a historic first-place finish, marking a fantastic achievement for both the athletes and the school.
Congratulations to Our Overall Merseyside Indoor Athletics Winners!
On Tuesday 17th March, Mr Heron and Mrs Morris took three teams from Years 7 and 8 to Greenbank Sports Hall in Liverpool to compete in the Indoor Athletics Merseyside Finals.
The Year 7 boys team competed in the morning and represented the school with great pride throughout finishing in 5th place.
Special mention to Matty Mc and Pasha K with a couple of excellent runs.
The morning also saw the Year 8 boys team competing along with the Y7s. The team came into the event with high hopes after winning the St Helens qualifier and with several high-level athletes in their squad.
The afternoon was the girl's event, and we were represented by our Year 8 athletes. They worked really hard as a team coming up against some outstanding competition.
Their spirit and positivity remained high throughout the event.
The track events were dominated by Henry F, Charlie W and Jack A whilst Theo B and Lucas R excelled in the field.
The competition was at a very high level and going into the results we thought we may get a podium finish, and we were pleasantly surprised when we were announced overall Merseyside winners coming in 1st place!
This was a massive achievement for the team and the school as this is the first time that we have ever won this competition. This will surely give us great confidence moving into Athletics season after the Easter Holidays.
Well done to all performers on the day, they represented the school
with immense pride and should be incredibly pride with themselves.
The PE Team.
