As the summer term progresses, Rainhill students continue to excel across a range of sports and competitions. From triumphs on the rugby and football fields to outstanding performances on the athletics track, our pupils have demonstrated remarkable talent, determination, and team spirit. It’s been a fortnight filled with achievements, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights.
11th June
A fantastic performance from our Year 7 rugby lads, who secured a 20–16 victory over St Cuthbert’s in a closely contested third-place play-off. This hard-fought win means that we now qualify for the Champion Schools tournament next year—making it two years in a row! An incredible achievement for the team.
Tries were scored by K. Foster, N. Smith, L. Stephenson and J. Abbott. Well done, boys!

Huge congratulations to some of our outstanding athletes—Woody Dean, Lucas Vine, Lewis Barr, and Daisy Hatton—who competed at the Merseyside Schools Athletics Championships.
It was also a proud moment to see our former pupils, Finn Beaven, Ethan Vine, and Liam Johnson, still achieving great success and picking up medals. Wonderful to see their continued excellence!

A huge congratulations to Daisy, who has been crowned Double County Schools Champion in both the 100m and 200m events!
Her incredible time of 12.6 seconds in the 100m meets the English Schools qualifying standard, earning her a place at the national competition in July. Daisy’s dedication and commitment to training have truly paid off.
Well done, Daisy—an amazing accomplishment!

We had a brilliant afternoon at Ruskin Drive for the Under-13 cricket tournament. Our team won all of their games! Even more special, every player was representing the school for the first time.
It’s exactly the kind of spirit and participation we love to see. Well done to all involved!
